We want to thank you for your continued patience and support as we adapt our regular school practices and procedures to accommodate the many challenges presented by the pandemic. Parents, students, and staff have stepped up in heroic ways and we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We thank you for communicating to the district questions or concerns through the proper channels. Feedback through our regular surveys, contacting the office or your child’s teacher is the best way to get the most recent information and provide input.
Moving forward into our continued Reopening Plan, I am excited to announce the following:
Starting next week, We will have students on campus five days a week from 8:00 to 12:00 noon. We continue to plan for all students on campus with a full, regular schedule in the Fall of 2021 which would also include after school program and many other programs that were reduced with the pandemic. Students, please bring your Chromebooks and chargers to school so we can start inventorying them.
Secondly, we are excited to offer SUMMER STEAM! from June 2nd-30th. This summer school program from June 2nd-30th will be 5 days a week and will focus on Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math. We will also provide a boost for reading and English Language Arts each day in this program. Please use the link provided (https://forms.gle/pd7EBjVPAskMrT3fA) to let the office know you are interested in your student participating in summer school June 2-June 30. You will be contacted by the CES summer school principal, Melissa Willes.
Thirdly, snacks from home are now allowed. There is continued concern over the spreading of the virus as Colfax cases of Covid-19 continue to rise due to community spread each week. At the moment there are 307 Colfax Zip Code Cases and each week before that as follows: 295, 288, 269, 262, 237 five weeks. After working with health officials, staff and parents there is continued concern about the virus however, we will allow outside snacks from home. A reminder to bring a bottle of water, especially in warmer weather. Please continue to remind students not to share food and our staff will continue to remind and monitor them for the same.
Lastly, we are extremely excited to offer 8th-grade graduation and a Sunsplash trip. These events will be somewhat different than in years past with very specific health guidelines in place. More specifics to come to our 8th-grade families. Thank you for working with your students to follow the directives that will be set forth in the coming weeks to celebrate our 8th-grade graduates.
Again, we are excited to be able to move toward normalcy for our students and our Colfax Community. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact us at school.
